The Little Bird Who Made Me Think!

So I am back with a little poem of mine! Hope you all like it. I really hope to get some feedback, as I tried my hand at something different this time! Here it goes. . .

A few days back, marching tirelessly

In the examination hall, observing vigilantly,

My eyes fell on a little shadow stuttering

Proudly on the window sill, cooing.

At first I thought my eyes were tired

And showing me things that weren’t.

Stretching the eyes wide open, I stared

At the little bird that strutted uncared.

Was it a bigger crow?

It seemed so, but my eyes screamed ‘No!’

Was it a dirtied pigeon, who’d played

Or jumped into some swamp as he was dared?

But lo, it walked again to and fro,

The little gait reminded me of a pigeon not a crow!

A blackie, coal black pigeon, my sight beheld

And while my eyes wondered at it, my mind questions held.

Was it the result of the love between those two kinds?

Or was it a she-pigeon who lost her heart to a crow unkind?

Was it the gift of love, before they got separated?

Or was it their offspring after they eloped?

Was it some handsome Casanova-ish crow

Who broke the heart of the innocent, left her in sorrow?

Or was it due to a gang who left its mother molested?

Blamed it for ‘being a female, improperly dressed’ and raped?

Suddenly it spread its wings and flew away,

showing me it was equipped to fight what in future lay!

I wondered if it too was subjected to prejudices,

Did the animal world share the humanly vices?

The little bird knew not what it made me think.

Filled me with ideas, so my pen bled some ink!

A Thousand Dreams Within Me Softly Burn by Sahil Sood – ARC/Book Review

Hello friends!!

Back with another review. Now this one is special. Why? Well ’cause of many reasons.

**A new author got wings to his dream of publishing his book.

**A very supportive team of the publishing house.

**A different story.

**I was one of the few to receive the ARC! 😄😁

So, here is the review of the book titled A Thousand Dreams Within Me Softly Burn by Sahil Sood.

Here is the cover:

(Totally love the hues on it! 😍😍)

Blurb:

Siddharth, a middle aged school teacher, struggling with an unfinished manuscript leads a solitary existence in a remote village in Shimla.

Gautam, a twenty two year old writer, burning with a desperate longing for romance, finds solace in Siddharth’s old essay on Thumri and spends years in search of him.

Phil, a young Jewish traveler from Missouri, beset by a difficult alliance with his Christian girlfriend in the face of orthodoxy, travels around the world and meets Siddharth at a cafe in Manali.

The answer to their longings resides in Siddharth’s letters and manuscript – the silent witnesses of the fate of two men and their love for each other.

A Thousand Dreams Within Me Softly Burn explores the depth of love and the power of writing that helps the human soul triumph over loneliness, alienation and shame.

Review:

The story revolves around the protagonist Siddharth and the events of his life – the present and the past. The way his life has moved, the highs and lows he faces, all the incidents decide the course of his life.

The letters in the story provide us the inside view of the character and an insight to the society and the cultural aspect of the country and the people around. The different people Siddharth meets play various roles to mould him into the kind of person he becomes.

Gautam and Phil add the present and future angle to the story. Their coming into Siddharth’s life helps him get rid of his anxieties and worries and clears his opinion about what he will do in the future. They come to show him the way he needs to travel. Knowingly or unknowingly, they are able to give direction to his aimless, goalless life.

Why is Siddharth always alone?

Why does love seem to elude him?

Why are people so apprehensive and things regarded as a curse or a taboo?

Do know these things do read it!

The language is lucid and clear. The story moves smoothly, increasing the curiosity and providing the answers to the questions. The characters are well created. The story starts unraveling itself as you keep reading and that’s what keeps the reader intrigued.

A well crafted story embedded with the richness and essence of the classics. Revealing to the reader the metamorphosis of the character and his journey till he is at peace with himself and the world around him. Indeed an amazing work by Sahil Sood. Hope the writer keeps writing!

Best wishes for him and the team behind it!
